The Jihlava festival celebrates documentary films and is the largest event of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe. The Echoes of the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival held in Brussels in 2013 attracted hundreds of viewers from among the locals. This year’s programme will include the winning films from the 2013 Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival, accompanied by a selection of other interesting films from last festival’s edition. Most film screenings will be followed by discussions with the film-makers.
The opening night held in the Nova Cinema on Friday 31 January 2014 will present the best Czech documentary of 2013, The Great Night, with its director Petr Hátle in attendance, as well as the best documentary in Central and Eastern Europe called Winter/Miracle by Croatian director Zeljka Sukova. The opening night will also feature the Bulgarian film Lecedra. Another 11 films of both European and international production will be presented at the festival.
More information in Czech is available at the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival’s website, and in French at the Nova Cinema’s website.
